All-Star College Bound Scholars Program

TLTUSA’s All-Star College Bound Scholars division knows the importance of education in helping build stronger communities and understand the barriers facing underserved students, and their families, in achieving the opportunity to earn a college degree. Our research shows that a college degree enlightens the mind, forms character, helps students recognize purpose and potential and raises their income level over their lifetime. Our All-Star mentors consist of passionate and qualified teachers, seasoned professionals, community volunteers, youth ministers, and mentors. Our socially-responsible financial contributors willingly give their time, money, and voice to impact and improve the lives of others.
Corporate Partnership per All-Star Scholar/year - $2,500
TLTUSA’s All-Star College Bound Scholars Program is a partners-based program that gives individual, corporate and anonymous partners a unique opportunity to invest in deserving students, who are often hidden in our urban cities, with the desire and potential to achieve a college degree. Our students and their families need guidance and help to access admission and funding to realize their dream of a college education. We recruit a diverse group of high school students (6th - 12th grades), especially low income, first-generation and students of diversity.

Elements to Success

1. Our students (All-Stars) are selected based on their potential, character, community service awareness, desire and the commitment needed to be successful. Our selection criteria look at the whole student not just their academic ability. The selection process of our All-Stars includes written essays, personal videos, web interviews, and interviews with each student. We also get recommendations from school counselors who know the students. Our goal year 1 is to select the best 100 students across all grade levels (incoming 6th-12th grades).

2. Our Support Team (coaches, assistant coaches) are teachers, local volunteers, youth ministers, mentors, subject specialists, college admissions specialists, and financial planning experts. They are qualified and trained to provide the management services and guidance needed to implement the established curriculum designed for the All-Stars and their families at each grade level.

3. Our Services / Curriculum are designed to be conducted individually and/or in group sessions. We include team activities designed to help build volunteerism, sportsmanship and leadership skills. Our curriculum includes courses that focus on the elements necessary for successful college admission and how to fund a college education. We also include financial planning assistance for parents. The curriculum includes activities focused on community service awareness, team-building skills, sportsmanship, leadership skills, college admission requirements, SAT/ACT testing, college selection, private scholarship opportunities, financial planning, interviewing, resume writing, etc.

4. Our Access to Colleges and Scholarship Assistance is made possible through a partnership with the Infinite Scholars Program www.infinitescholar.org, a national leader in facilitating college admission and scholarship funding for underserved students. Infinite scholars will help with curriculum development, training and provide access to their network of over 350 colleges. In the past two years, Infinite Scholars has helped TLT All-Stars facilitate over $15 million in scholarship offers from colleges for 780 students attending high schools in Georgia.

5. Our Program Partners are socially-responsible individuals and corporations who make it possible for individual or multiple students to participate in the program for a year. Our partners are passionate about making a difference in the communities we serve and provide the funds needed to hire the staff (coaches and assistant coaches) needed to effectively implement our curriculum and guidance services.
